Sabe o que são Verb Collocations?


São duas ou mais palavras que geralmente andam juntas.


Essas combinações parecem "certas" para falantes nativos de inglês, que as usam o tempo todo.


Porém, é preciso estar atento à combinações para comunicar-se corretamente.


Veja a primeira parte com exemplos envolvendo a palavra MAKE:


Make amends - to do something good to show that you are sorry about something you have done.

Make an appointment - to make a formal arrangement to meet or visit someone at a particular time and place.

Make an attempt ( + to infinitive) - to try to do something, especially something difficult. Make believe - to pretend or imagine. Make an appearance

- to appear in public.

Make a break

- to (cause something to) separate suddenly or violently into two or more pieces, or to (cause something to) stop working by being damaged.

Make breakfast, make lunch, make dinner

- to prepare the first meal in the morning as the first meal of the day (to make breakfast).

Make excuses - to forgive someone.

Make a difference

- to improve a situation (a lot).

Make a decision

- to make a choice.

Make a comment

- to express an opinion.

Make clear - to say something in order to emphasize what you have just said, or to express your authority.

Make a complaint

- to make a statement that something is wrong or not satisfactory.

Make a deal

- to make an agreement or an arrangement, especially in business

Make an effort

Make a fortune

- to make a very large amount of money or property.

Make a fool of yourself

- to do something that makes other people think you are silly or not to be respected. Make a fuss of sb (somebody)

- to give someone a lot of attention and treat them well.

Make love

- to have sex.


Make a mess of sth (also mess sth up) - to do something badly or spoil something.

Make a mistake

- to earn a lot of money from a job or an investment.

Make a move

- to leave a place.

Make an objection

- the act of expressing or feeling opposition to or dislike of something or someone.

Make an offer

- to offer an amount of money  to pay for something.

Make a profit

- to earn money above what it costs to produce and sell goods and services.

Make a presentation

- to give information about something.

Make a promise

- to state to someone that you will certainly do something.

Make payment

Make a point

- to always do something or to take particular care to do something.

Make room

- to make space.

Make a speech

- the ability to deliver a talk, the activity of talking, or a piece of spoken language.

Make sense

- to make something clear and easy to understand.

Make trouble

- to cause someone to be worried or nervous.

Make a threat

- a suggestion that something unpleasant or violent will happen, especially if a particular action or order is not followed.

Make time

- to make certain you have some time when you are not busy in order to do something you think you should do.

Make up your mind

- to decide about something.
