Palavras aparentemente semelhantes na escrita ou no som, mas com significados diferentes! Muito cuidado ao usar uma das palavras abaixo:
Application (carta de intenção, inscrição; aplicativo) - an official request for something, usually in writing.
Example: I've sent off applications for four different jobs.
Aplicação (emprego de capital e/ou títulos em condições de produzir juros ou conservar o seu
poder aquisitivo; investimento).

Example: I didn't actually see her - I just heard her voice.

Assume (presumir, supor, imaginar algo como verdadeiro...) - to accept something to be true without question or proof.
Example: I assumed (that) you knew each other because you went to the same school.
Assumir (tomar para si, avocar, apropriar-se; ser investido no exercício de...)

Confident (confiante) - being certain of your abilities or having trust in people, plans, or the future.
Example: Be a bit more confident in yourself!
Confidente (diz-se de ou pessoa a quem se confiam segredos, contam-se intimidades, fazem-
se confissões reservadas em confiança, ou com quem de hábito se conversa privadamente)

Pretend (fazer de conta, fingir…) - to behave as if something is true when you know that it is not, especially in order to deceive people or as a game.
Example: He pretended (that) he didn't mind, but I knew that he did.
